Verna Gass, a 99 year old resident of Trenton, passed away at 11:50 a.m., Wednesday, May 04, 2011 at Sunnyview Nursing Home of Trenton.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday May 7, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 until service time Saturday.  Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery near Osgood.  Memorial donations are suggested to Wright Memorial Hospice.  Open visitation will begin Friday morning at the funeral home.

Verna Gass was born July 17, 1911 in Sanilac County, MI to George and Alvina Miller Mater.  On October 30, 1929 she was united in marriage to Joe Ralls in Toledo, OH.  He preceded her in death August 30, 1972.  On August 21, 1976 she was then married to Kenneth Gass in Union Star, MO.  He also preceded her in death on December 17, 1994.  She was a member of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include her son Royce Ralls and his wife Linda of Edwards, MO, daughter Joan Williams and her husband Bob of Trenton, a daughter-in-law Betty Ralls of Trenton, a step son Everett Gass and his wife Judy of Trenton, a step daughter Judy Turley and her husband Jim of Trenton, two sisters Pearl Hayes and Ruby Powell both of MI, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Those preceding her in death include her parents, husbands, sons Joe J. and Ronald Lee Ralls, a step son Jim Gass, three brothers Arnold, Lewis and Orville Mater, two sisters Eria Ferguson and Edna Butler, and two step grandchildren Tom and Michael Gass.
