Donna Jean Layson, an 83 year old Trenton, MO resident passed away at 4:01 p.m., Saturday, April 02, 2011 at St. Luke’s on the Plaza in Kansas City, MO.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Honey Creek Christian Church.  Burial will follow in the Honey Creek Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 Tuesday evening at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  Memorial donations are suggested to the Honey Creek Christian Church.

Donna Layson was born December 20, 1927 in Ottawa, KS to Herschel and Velma Batson Etherton.  On June 18, 1944 she was united in marriage to Corwin Layson in Gundy County.  He preceded her in death on September 1, 1988.  Mrs. Layson lived for 38 years in Dunlap before moving to Trenton in 1992.  She worked for 27 years on the Vienna sausage line and then 4 more years in the commissary at Trenton Food.  When not working, Mrs. Layson enjoyed quilting, gardening and being active with Honey Creek Christian Church.

Surviving relatives include her son Chris Layson of Cameron, MO a daughter Kathy Tabbert and her husband Ronnie of Spickard, MO, six grandchildren Chrystal Minnis, Malana Pringle, Curt Layson, Lisa Pawling, Amy Gibler, and Ronda Layson, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren.

Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband, a brother Clay Etherton and a son Lanny Mark Layson.

What a sweet lady. She was always smiling and would stop and visit with me in the stores. I will miss her. Kathy, I know what you are going thru. Even if you are prepared for it you are never ready to let them go. My prayers are with your family
