Alfred Callahan, a 64 year old resident of Trenton, MO passed away at 4:10 AM Sunday March 20, 2011 at the Heartland Regional Hospital in St. Joseph, MO where he had been a patient for the past week.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton. Burial will follow military graveside rites in the Campground Cemetery located southeast of Osgood. A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 PM Tuesday at the mortuary.

Mr. Callahan was born on May 7, 1946 at Osgood, MO the son of Cliff Bailey and Dorothy Frances McClearn Callahan. The family moved to Humphreys, MO when he was three and he attended and graduated from Humphreys. He began work at Trenton Foods after high school and shortly after was drafted into the United States Army and served in Viet Nam. After his honorable discharge he returned to Humphreys. He was first married to Mary Ann Snyder. On August 29, 2002 he was married to Peggy Tipton Alexander at Trenton, MO. He had lived in Trenton for over 40 years and had been employed at Trenton Foods.

He was a member of the Milan Christian Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Callahan is survived by his wife Peggy Callahan of the home in Trenton, MO;  one daughter, Michelle (John) Barrett of Cameron, MO; one son, Jeff (Debbie) Callahan of Hamilton, MO; two stepsons, Kevin (Patti) Alexander of Kearney, MO and Steven (Terry) Alexander of Browning, MO; one step-daughter, Christina Holcomb Crane of Ashland, MO; one sister, Barbara Michaels of Princeton, MO; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Callahan; 1 nephew and 1 niece.

JERRY AND OUR SON CASEY REMEMBERS SUCH GOOD TIMES WITH ALFRED AND GOING ON TRAIL RIDES WITH HIM. I KNOW THAT HE AND HIS FATHER ARE RIDING THEIR MULES TOGETHER. PROBABLY TRYING TO SEE WHICH OF THEIR MULES CAN JUMP THE HIGHEST. WE WILL MISS HIM!
