Wes Mahoney, a 78 year old Kansas City North, MO resident, passed away at 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his residence of natural causes.
A visitation is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Resthaven Mortuary. A Rosary will begin at 1:30 with inurnment to follow in the Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, MO. A celebration of life will be at the Princeton Christian Church with refreshments being served. Memorial donations are suggested to the Brookfield Athletic Booster Association or the donor’s choice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Wesley Raphael Mahoney was born March 29, 1940 in Brookfield, MO to Raphael “Dutch” and Catherine (Bowman) Mahoney. He graduated from Brookfield High School with the class of 1958. From June 1958 until May of 1961 Wes served in the United States Army. He then attended Southeastern Louisiana State University before working as an electronic navigator for LORAC Oil Exploration in Southeast Asia and the Gulf of Mexico. On December 27, 1969 he was united in marriage to Judy Derry in Brookfield. Wes later worked as store manager and area supervisor for McDonald’s in the Kansas City and St. Joseph area. In 1984 he received a degree from Platt College in Computer Sciences. He then began working with Constructive Computing where he computed the concrete needs for large commercial projects. He later worked as a tech support for the I.R.S., retiring in 2007.
Mr. Mahoney was a member of the American Legion, N.R.A., Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was an avid bicyclist and fisherman, and enjoyed collecting silver coins and maps.
Surviving relatives include his wife of the home, a sister Mary Ann, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings William and Catherine Mahoney.
