Edward Newkirk a 96 year old former Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 1:56 a.m., Friday, November 02, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Resthaven Mortuary.  Open Viewing will begin Friday morning at the funeral home.  Private interment will be later in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.  Memorial donations are suggested to either the Green Hills Animal Shelter or the donor’s choice and may be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
Edward Lee Newkirk was born September 12, 1922 in Trenton, MO to Everett A. and Glena M. (Newton) Newkirk.  He attended both Trenton and Nettelton, MO schools before Stevenson Auto and Electrical School and U.S. Trade School for Diesel Engineers both in Kansas City, MO.  From October 1942 until December 1945 he served with United States Navy during WWII.  Edward was a member of the 39th St. Church of Christ in Independence, MO and the Amalgamated Transit Union #1287.
Surviving relatives include his wife Clara Belle Newkirk of Independence, MO and daughter Marice Norris of Blue Summit, MO, grandchildren; Wm. E (Bill) Norris of Overland Park, KS, Rebecca L. (Becky) Kaster and husband Buz of Kansas City, KS, great grandchildren Thomas, Brandon, Isabella, DeAnn, Christal, Angie, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, a sister Juanita Bain, brothers; Ross, Glen, Albert and George Newkirk, a half-brother Lloyde D. Klinginsmith, and half sisterClarice Klinginsmith.
