Doctor Richard B. Owings, a 95 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away Tuesday morning, May 15, 2018 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the First Christian Church of Trenton.  His body is to be cremated after the services with interment at a later date in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.  A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 until 7:30 Friday evening at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home of Trenton.  Memorial donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children are suggested in lieu of flowers and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Dr. Richard Bainbridge Owings was born January 23, 1923 in Bates City, MO to Rector and Beulah Hannah (Bainbridge) Owings.  He graduated from Oak Grove High School with the class of 1941.  On August 11, 1944 he was united in marriage to Donis Duckers in Wetmore, KS.  She preceded him in death on April 2, 1984.  Doc Owings received a Bachelors degree in agriculture and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1959 from the University of Missouri Columbia.  He worked as a veterinarian in Trenton from 1959 until 1985.  He then worked for the United States Veterinary Services in Ames, IA and Little Rock, AR from 1985 to 1995.  In 1995 he moved to Camdenton, MO where he ran a small animal private practice before retiring in 2013 at the age of 89.  Dr. Owings also served as a Major in the United States Air Force during WWII and the Korean War.
Surviving relatives include his daughter Marsha Hurst and husband Ron of Trenton, his two sons Mark Owings and fiancé Theresa Phan of Kansas City, MO, and Charles Owings and wife Brenda of Springdale, AR, seven grandchildren; Jill Groebl and husband Tim of Leawood, KS, Amy McCullough and husband Dan of Lee’s Summit, MO, Abbye Michael and husband Shane of Trenton, MO, Kerri Waggoner of Trenton, MO, Donis Wright and husband Cole of Trenton, MO, Erin Owings and wife Brandy of Pensacola, FL, Charlie Owings of Pensacola, FL, twelve great grandchildren; Isaac and Luke McCullough, Eden Groebl, Addie, Zane, and Evan Michael, Izaiah Hernandez, Jessie Wright, Hayden Griffin, Gracey Owings, Dayton Waggoner, and Harper Owings.
Dr. Richard Owings was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son, Richard Bainbridge II, brother, Kenneth and great grandson, Eli Joel Groebl.

So sorry to hear of Docs passing. He had many friends at Camdenton and Lake Valley Country Club. Many will miss his smiling face.
