Clara Meeker, a 101 year old former Galt, MO resident, passed away at 7:35 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Galt Christian Church.  Burial will follow in the Galt West Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled from 1:00 until service time Thursday.  Open visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.  Memorial donations may be made to either the Galt West Cemetery or the Galt Christian Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Clara Melvina Meeker was born July 17, 1916 in St. Clair County, MO to William Henry and Cornelia Belle (Chrisman)Ishmael.  She lived most of her life in Grundy County, MO.  On July 26 1933 she was united in marriage to Nova Ishmael.  Together they farmed and operated a café and the youth center in Galt.  He preceded her in death on October 22, 1991.  Clara also served as City Clerk for a number of years.  During WWII she worked at Pratt & Whitney in Kansas City, MO on an assembly line building plane engines.  On March 20, 1994 she was remarried to Vaughn Meeker.  He also preceded her in death on February 1, 1998.
Surviving relatives include her step daughter Patricia Murphy and husband Danny of Trenton, step son Clitus Meeker and wife Judy of Galt, step daughter Vaughncille Brown and husband Garold of Trenton, nine step grandchildren, 21 step great grandchildren, and several Step great-great grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husbands, brothers Clarence, Samuel, Ralph and Earl Ishmael, sisters Nola Mae, Mabel, Mary, Elizabeth and Alice, and a twin brother who died at birth.
