Letha Henley, a 90 year old resident of Humphreys, MO, passed away April 28, 2018 at 10:20 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family

She was born May 11, 1927 in Trenton, MO, daughter of Roy and Bessie (Scott) Chambers.  She was a 1945 graduate of Trenton High School.  Letha married John Pease February 15, 1948 at Trenton.  To this union was born daughters Dixie Cox of Trenton, Martha (Delbert) Jackson of Galt, Sandy (Gary) Smith of Brimson.  They lived their married life in the Fairview Community.  Letha and John with brother-in-law Walter Pease owned Di-Mar Jersey Dairy Farm.  After John’s death June 4, 1974, she moved to Humphreys, MO.  She began cooking at the elementary school in Humphreys retiring in 1992.  She also cooked at 4-H camp and Christian Church Camps at Crowder Park.  Letha married Eugene Henley July 25, 1982 at Humphreys.  Until Gene’s death December 18, 2005 they enjoyed gardening and mowing yards.  Letha loved to spend time with her family.  Her love of cooking was enjoyed by many.  She was strong in her faith and was a member of the Galt Baptist Church.  She supported her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their school activities.  She was often seen at Grundy R-V baseball and basketball games.  She was a major Royals fan.

Letha is survived by her daughters, step-son Paul (Sandra) Henley of Milan, grandchildren Jennifer (Eric)Gann, Erik (Becka) Jackson, Sheynee (Jeremy) Shuler, Kellie Smith, Shane Watkins, Jeff (Tosha) Watkins several great grandchildren nieces, nephews ant a sister-in-law Mary Chambers of Columbia, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, two infant daughters, two sisters, Mildred Taylor, Lucille Fletcher and a brother Eugene Chambers, son-in-law Bill Cox and nephews George Roy Taylor, Dwight Taylor, and Jerry Chambers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Galt Baptist Church in Galt.  Burial will follow in Grundy Center Cemetery northeast of Trenton.  A visitation is scheduled from 6 until 8 Thursday evening at the Whitaker Eads Funeral Home of Trenton.  Open visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to kindergarten and first grade library at Grundy R-V elementary in Humphreys where Letha enjoyed reading to the children or the donor’s choice.
