Dorothy M. Brown, a 97-year-old resident of Rogers, AR and formerly of Trenton, died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018.
A Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., April 28, 208 at Resthaven mortuary with a reception to follow until 4:00 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brown was born on April 6, 1920 in Trenton, the daughter of Asa R. and Glenda C. French. She was a graduate of Trenton High School and Culver-Stockton College, where she received a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration. While in college, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
After graduation, she accepted a position with the FBI in Washington D.C., where she met and became engaged to Herbert S. Brown, who was an FBI agent and also from Trenton. They were married on July 18, 1942 in Port Arthur, TX.
During World War II, Mrs. Brown worked for the FBI, Gulf Oil Corporation, the Santa Fe Railroad and Harris Upton Investors. After the war, the Browns relocated to Trenton, where her husband opened a law office above his father’s Trenton Hardware Store. Mrs. Brown worked at his side as his office administrator and ran the Best Abstract and Title Company.
She kept busy as a member of the First Christian Church, AAUW, PEO, the Riverside Country Club and the Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge and traveling with family and friends.
She is survived by three children, Linda Brown and her husband, Dan Prewitt, Cynthia D. Brown and Brian Brown and his wife, Teri; two grandchildren, Kayla J. Brown and Russell Prewitt; two nephews, Donald French and Craig French; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Herbert S. Brown; and two brothers, Donald French and Dwight French.
The family suggests donations to the First Christian Church in Trenton or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
