John Fredrick Bowden, a 76 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 9:41 p.m., Monday, February 05, 2018, at his residence, where he was under hospice care.
A family visitation will be held Friday evening, February 9, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home of Trenton. The body will be cremated after services.  Open visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family has asked that memorial donations be made to: Grandkids Scholarship Fund, The Trenton Elks Lodge, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. These may be left or mailed to Whitaker Eads.

John Fredrick Bowden was born November 10, 1941 in Cairo, MO to John Harry and Marguerite Ellen (Wolverton) Bowden.  He graduated from Cairo High School in 1959, then attended Moberly Junior College as well as Kirksville State Teacher College. Fred owned his own insurance and real estate agency from the early 60’s into the mid 80’s. He worked at Trenton Municipal Utilities from the early 90’s until his retirement. Fred enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, and quail, as well as fishing. He liked to keep up on sprint car racing and liked to spend time woodworking.  

Mr. Bowden is survived by his son, Jeff Bowden, and wife, Pam, of Trenton; daughter, Sara DeFily, and husband, John, of Fulton, MO; grandchildren, Chase Bowden of St. Petersburg, FL, Randy, Matthew, and McKenna Bowden of Trenton, and Anna and Gabe DeFily of Fulton.

Mr. Bowden is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Kevin Bowden.
