John H. Garnett, a 91 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 11:33 p.m., Tuesday, September19, 2017 at the University of Columbia Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery at Jacksonville, MO. Open visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. The family suggests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the First Christian Church of Trenton.
John Garnett was born December 21, 1925 in rural Centertown, MO, the son of George W. and Lucy (Hunziker) Garnett. He graduated from Buckner High School in 1943 and in early 1944 he was drafted into the United States Army serving in France and Germany before being discharged as a Technician with the 445th Ordinance Ham Co. in May 1946. Following college graduation at the University of Missouri in 1951, he taught agriculture to veterans in Southeast Missouri and later began his career with the Farmers Home Administration. He was married to Jane Norton of Macon, MO on June 2, 1956. His career as a County Supervisor of FHA took him to Nevada, Albany, and Brookfield, MO before he transferred to Grundy County as an Assistant District Director, and retired as District Director in 1980. John was an active member of Christian Churches of Albany, Brookfield, and Trenton.
Survivors include his wife, Jane of the home; sons, Paul and his wife, Leigh of Smithville, MO and Mark of Brookfield, MO; grandchildren, Madison Siegfried and husband, Travis of Smithville, MO and Charlie King of Ann Arbor, MI; and a great grandchild, Madi Siegfried of Smithville, MO.
