Orville Palmer a former Newtown and Trenton resident, passed away at 11:25 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the V.A. Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017, at the Newtown Christian Church in Newtown, MO. Burial will follow in the Powersville Cemetery in Powersville, MO. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time Friday. Memorial donations are suggested to either the Newtown Christian Church or the Powersville Cemetery and may be left with or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary at 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
Orville Hammond Palmer was born July 8, 1921 in Sewal, IA, to Ross and Mary (Swen) Palmer. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. On January 10, 1945 he was united in marriage to Sarah Ruth Chapman in Corydon, IA. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2008. They lived and farmed in the Newtown community for 56 years before retiring and moving into Trenton in 1997. In 2009 Orville moved to Wisconsin to be near his son.
Surviving relatives include his son Stephen Palmer and wife Ann of Prescott, WI, grandchildren Ryan Palmer and wife Leah of Kansas City, MO, and Trevor Palmer of Prescott, WI, a brother Harry Palmer, sister Ruby Starns, Brother-in-law Koran Breese, and sister-in-law’s Marilyn Palmer and Margaret Chapman.
