Mary Burton, a 93 year old former Trenton resident, passed away at 5:08 a.m., Friday, June 02, 2017 at the Saint Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2017 at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery in Harris, MO. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time Monday. Memorial donations are suggested to First Assembly of God Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Mary Burton was born June 2, 1924 in Evansville, TN, to James Franklin and Stella Hall Worthington. She was raised in the Kansas City area and graduated from Turner High School. On March 2, 1945 she was united in marriage to Robert M. Burton. They lived on a farm near Harris all of their married lives where they raised Angus cattle. For 37 years they owned and operated the Blue Ribbon Store which became the Burton’s Grocery. Mary retired in 1983. After Robert’s death in 1991 she moved to Trenton. She was a member of the First Assembly of God.
Surviving relatives include her sisters; Ova Lee Ellifrits and Rose Brown both of Kansas City, KS, and Dorothy Ingraham of Roeland Park, KS, and a step son Jerry Burton.
Those preceding her include her parents, husband, a brother Dennis Worthington, and a sister Virginia Robinson.

So hear about Mary. I have many fond memories of her and Bob in the grocery store when I was young and lived in Harris.
