Carol Newkirk a 78 year old Trenton resident died at 8:59 pm, Sunday February 5, 2017 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton MO.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.  A visitation is scheduled from 1:00 until service time Friday.  There will be an inurnment at a future date in Green Castle Cemetery.  Memorial donations are suggested to either the Green Hills Animal Shelter or Coon Creek Baptist Church and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
Alberta Carol Newkirk was born July 25, 1938 in Galt, MO to Roy Alvin and Christine (Davis) Southers.  She was a lifetime resident of Grundy County.  Carol dedicated her life to caring for others and was a nurse at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton for 42 years.  In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to a close friend’s farm to take care of cattle.
Mrs. Newkirk is survived by a son Scott Newkirk of Trenton, MO; a daughter Debbie Crow and husband Randy of Joplin Mo; brothers Jerry Southers and his companion Dorothy Heutentzen, and Jack Southers and wife Shirley both of Trenton MO; grandchildren Tesse Carmen and Derek Crow and great grandchildren Nick and Knut Carmen.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, a brother Ronnie Southers and her ex-husband Ervin E. Newkirk.
