Dean Harp, an 84 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 4:05 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cameron, MO.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Hodge Presbyterian Church in Trenton under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home.
Mr. Harp was born on October 10, 1932 in Mercer County, MO the son of Laurence and Doris “Groves” Harp. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was married to Lucylee George on May 4, 1957 in Princeton, MO; she preceded him in death on June 6, 2005. He worked and retired from Trenton Foods after 29 years.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Deanna Powell and husband, Tom of Trenton, MO; a son, Dan Harp and his wife, Mary of Higginsville, MO; grandchildren, Beth Anderson and her husband, Daniel of Kansas City, MO, Catie Pedersen and her husband, Charlie of Kansas City, KS, Cory Harp and his wife, Stephanie of Clinton, MO, and Elizabeth Thomas and her companion, Hollis Gemes of Warrensburg, MO; great grandchildren, Andrew Dean and Max Harp; Catherine, Matthew, and Daniel Gemes; and his sixth great grandchild “Nugget” that is due in February.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fletcher and Larry Harp.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home, Comfort Care Hospice, or Hodge Presbyterian Church “Wacky Wednesday.” They can be left at or mailed to Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
