Larry Odom, a 74 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 12:10 am, Monday January 02, 2017 at his home in Trenton.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton.  Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. A visitation is scheduled from 6pm until 7pm Wednesday at Resthaven Mortuary.
Open visitation will begin at 9am Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Trenton.

Larry Thomas Odom was born October 17, 1942 in Caruthersville, MO to Elijah and Pauline (Veid) Odom. He graduated from Caruthersville high school in 1961. From then he attended the School of the Ozarks where he earned an associate in science. Larry enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964 and was on active duty until 1966 and remained in the naval reserves until 1990. On July 25, 1965, he was united in marriage to Joyce Cook in Granby, MO. He then attended Drury College and Missouri Southern University where he earned a BS and MS in education and educational administration. He also attended the University of Missouri where he earned an educational specialist in administration. He started his employment in public education as a teacher in Bonner Springs, KS in 1968. From there he was principal in Miller, MO and then became assistant principal at Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO from 1976 through 1980. In 1980, the Odoms moved to Trenton where he was the high school principal, until retiring in 1998. Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Trenton and an active member of the Trenton Masonic Lodge and served as Missouri Grand Commander in 2015. Larry was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving relatives include his wife Joyce of the home, daughters, Angie Hein and husband, Darrin of Memphis, TN, Jennifer Moses and husband, John of St. Louis, MO, and Carrie Odom of San Francisco, CA; a brother, Floyd Odom and wife, Barbara of Panama City, FL; and six grandchildren, Anna, Davis, Madelyn and Carter Hein, and Ainsley and Beckham Moses.
