Ben Kennedy, an 81 year old Trenton, MO resident passed away at 3:31 a.m. on Monday, June 06, 2016 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Rev. Steve Bramblett will officiate. Open visitation and viewing will be after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.

Mr. Kennedy was born on November 13, 1934 in Spickard, MO the son of John Earl and Pina (Poppino) Kennedy. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1953 and Trenton Junior College in 1955. He was married to Mary Etta Hobbs on June 15, 1955 in Trenton, MO; she preceded him in death on January 16, 2009. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ. Before the Army, he worked at the Plaza Theater and after the Army he returned home and worked at Montgomery Ward. He retired from Trenton Republican Times Newspaper after 37 years as the Production Manager.

He is survived by a daughter, Cara McCulley and her husband, Darrell of Trenton, MO; two grandchildren, Beth Chase and her husband, Kenny of Rolla, MO and Jonathan McCulley and his wife, Betsy of Brunswick, MO; a great grandson, Alex Chase; and a sister, Twila Knosby of New Boston, TX.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kennedy; a sister, Eva Marsh; one infant sister; 2 infant brothers; and a grandson, Joshua Ben McCulley.

I worked with Ben at the Republican Times many years ago. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. He was friendly and always a gentleman. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and all who loved him.

My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family. I recall Ben working at the Plaza theater and doing everything that was needed to run the theater. I enjoyed knowing him in school and graduating from TJC together.
