Vernetta Mae Davis, an 88 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 12:20 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family while she was under hospice care.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 Saturday morning.  Open visitation will begin Friday at 9:00 a.m.
Mrs. Davis was born on December 6, 1927 in Grundy County, MO near Spickard the daughter of Harold and Hattie (Howe) Buckland. She graduated Trenton High School. She worked for Dr. Kimberly, Trenton National Bank, and Supply Store before moving to Jamesport. Her and her husband, Clifford owned the Plumbing, Heating, and Hardware business for 20 years. They raised 4 children and divorced in 1971. She sold the store and worked for Home Exchange Bank, Gables, Ellis Antiques, worked for Bill McAlister Auctioneers, Ray Pettit Auctioneers, and Jamesport Grocery.  She moved to Trenton in 2005.
Surviving relatives include her children, Kathy Davis and her companion Tony of Johnson City, IN, Davey Davis and his wife Linda of Jamesport, MO, Kenny Davis and his wife Ann of Trenton, and Tammy Gordon and her husband Curtis of Kirksville, MO; 7 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; 2 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews, Randy Crow and Rick Crow and families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Crow; a brother in law, Lloyd Crow; and a niece, Pat Crow.
Memorial contributions are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Jamesport Fire Station, St. Luke’s Hospice, or the North 65 Senior Center; they can be left at or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, P.O. Box 587, Trenton,

Kathy, Not sure if you will remember me or not but we used to write to each other back several years ago. I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was always such a lovely, caring person. My sincerest sympathy to all of you.
