Mary Elizabeth Boehner, 98 a resident of Riverside Place Care Center in St. Joseph, died February 12, 2016 after a long illness.  She had lived in Trenton for over 60 years.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Hodge Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton, MO.
Mrs. Boehner was born on October 15, 1917 at the family farm near Chillicothe, MO the eldest daughter of Howard M. and Mabel Young McCarthy.  She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1935, attended Maryville Teachers College, and passed the state teachers’ exam.  Between 1935 and 1942, she taught in several one-room schools in rural Livingston County.
On January 11, 1942 she married Henry Joseph “Joe” Boehner near Chillicothe. They lived in Meadville and various other places in Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois before settling in Trenton in 1952. Joe died on January 8, 2000, three days before their 58th anniversary.
After her marriage, as a homemaker and mother of four children, Mrs. Boehner definitely remained a “working mother.” In the early 1970’s she completed a travel agent course and became an outside sales representative for a Kansas City travel agency. She and Joe then founded and operated Boehner Travel in Trenton in 1978 for about 25 years.
Mrs. Boehner was a member of the Hodge Presbyterian Church in Trenton.
Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Boehner of Fort Collins, CO, and two sons, Richard Boehner of St Joseph and Jack Boehner of Parkville. “GrandMary” also leaves 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Boehner was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Marjorie Mason and Jean McCarthy; and one son, James Boehner.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hodge Presbyterian Church. These may be left at or mailed to Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.

I am very sorry to learn of the passing of your mother. You and I have lost both parents and we know the void and heartache it creates. Know that you will be in my prayers in the days ahead.

Marge, Jack and Dick,

I was so saddened to learn of Mary's passing. I remember her from childhood for that broad smile and those sparkling eyes. There is really nothing I can say that will replace her in your lives, but just know she touched the lives of many others. Including me.

God bless you all,

Kim

My mother, Millie Gordon, cherished the friendship she and Mary had for each other. I don't think my mother laughed in the company of anyone as much as Mary. They were a joy to watch together. And oh the cruises. Mother just loved cruises and Mary was always ready to set her up with one and accompany her on the cruises. I think there were 17 cruises in all. Thank you for your mother's enrichment of my mother's life.

Dick, Jack, Margie and families,
Linda and I join your other friends in offering our thoughts and prayers in the loss of your mother. We also join in celebrating the long and significant life she lived. I have very fond memories of times at your home and of the tolerance that Mary and Joe had for the high volume/high energy fun we had.

Wishing you comfort.

Don and Linda

To the Boehner family. So sorry to hear about Mary. I live in Branson West Mo. and we get the Chillicothe paper in the mail. The paper is dated the 16th and we got it on the 21st. So we are getting the news late. Millie has not heard of Mary's passing yet. Millie lives in an assisted living facility here and I take her the paper when I get it. Millie turns 94 this August. I know hearing about Mary will be especially hard on her. Millie has asked me several times over the past year if we could go to Trenton to see her and I have been putting her off because that was not really possible. When the circumstances present themselves I will tell her. Millie will be saddened that she has lost one of her dearest friends. Please accept Millies condolences on my behalf. Mary has been a very important part of Millie's life. God Bless to your family..
