Dixey Jean Bailey, an 88 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 11:03 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton.  Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.  A visitation is scheduled from 6 until 7 Friday evening at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  Open visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Friday.  Memorial donations are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church or the Trust for the Benefit of Grundy County Scouts and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Dixey Bailey was born April 3, 1927 in Trenton to Henry Dwight and Opal Lenore (Oswalt) Walker.  She graduated from Trenton High School in 1945 and was Trenton’s first Homecoming Queen in 1944. Dixey was a lifelong lover of music, and sang for a swing band while in high school.  On May 12, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Bailey in Trenton.  He preceded her in death on December 19, 2002. Dixey was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques and was a member of the Antique Heritage Club. She devoted her life to her family, her friends, her community and her faith.
Surviving relatives include her children Kevin Bailey and his wife Cathy of Trenton, and Robin Brown and her husband Jeff of Trenton; five grandchildren Kasey Bailey and his wife Krista, Mitchell Bailey, Jason Bailey and his fiancé Avery Whitaker, Craig Brown and Morgan Brown; and three great grandchildren Jesse, Noah and Ethan Bailey. She also shared a closed relationship with her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Those preceding her in death include her parents and husband.

Dear Kevin and Robin,

We are so sad to hear the news. We have all been so lucky to know your Mother haven't we? I can only imagine how proud she was of you. We hope the Love and support of Family and friends will be a comfort. I wish we could be there to celebrate her Life with you but you are in our hearts today and always.
