Norma McGowan, an 89 year old resident of Columbia and former Half Rock resident, passed away at 6:49 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2015 at the Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 1, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Burial will be in Half Rock Cemetery. No scheduled visitation is planned. An open visitation will be all day Thursday at Resthaven.
She was born on July 11, 1926 in Mercer County, MO the daughter of Harry and Ora Owen. She graduated from Princeton High School. She was married to Kenneth McGowan on September 12, 1945; he preceded her in death in 1981.
Mrs. McGowan is survived by a son, Rodney McGowan of Columbia, MO; a daughter, Joan Wooder of Oklahoma City, Ok; a brother, Richard “Dick” Owen of Jefferson City, MO; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Riggs Union Church or the Half Rock Cemetery; they can be left at or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
