James Edward Brown, 66, of Galt, MO, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:45 a.m., at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Galt Christian Church in Galt with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens north of Trenton. Open visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday at the Payne Funeral Home of Galt. A visitation is scheduled from 6 until 7:30 p.m., Monday at the Galt Christian Church. Mr. Brown was born June 2, 1949 in Powersville, MO to Francis and Dominguita “Tita” (Romo) Brown. He graduated from Ravanna High School in 1967. On November 24, 1972 he was united in marriage to Susan Smith at the Galt Methodist Church. He worked for Con Agra Foods in Trenton retiring in 1998. James received an early Christmas present of a donor heart on December 23rd, 1998. He enjoyed Louis L’Amour books, western movies, 1950’s doo wop music and especially his grandsons.
Surviving relatives include his wife Susan and grandson, Wade Payton Brown of the home, sons Jeremy Brown and his wife Katy of Chillicothe, MO and John Jay Brown and his wife Laura of Galt, grandson Jax Konnor Brown and a step granddaughter Sophia Ruth Anne Morgan. He is also survived by a brother Leo (Karen) Brown of Pflugerville, TX, sisters Mary Brown of Montgomery City, MO, Janice Wells of Princeton, MO, Velma (Rob) Allen of Mercer, MO, Betty (Leslie) Spickard of Trenton, Charlotte (Mike) Blake of Sterling Height, MI, a mother-in-law Raymah Smith of Galt, sister-in-laws Margaret Brown of Princeton, MO, and Judy Turner of Galt, a brother-in-law Steven (Shelly) Smith of Trenton, and several nieces and nephews. Those preceding him in death include his parents, a brother Leroy Brown and his father-in-law Archie Smith. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to be used for a Galt Community Improvement Project and may be left with the funeral home.
