Jason Leroy Nickell, 53, of Galt MO, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 because of a vehicle collision with a deer near Galt, MO.  He was the beloved husband of Sharon Baugher Nickell, who was critically injured in the accident.

Born January 30, 1962 near Browning, MO, he was the son of Jimmie and Alma Mills Nickell.  He proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1985 to 1988 following graduation from high school in 1980.  Jason worked at Farmland Foods in Milan for the past 13 years.

Those who were honored to know Jason remember his wry sense of humor.  Some of his favorite hobbies and activities were traveling with Sharon as they discovered small craft stores and roamed garage sales.  Jason enjoyed tinkering with small engines, hunting deer, fishing and gathering mushrooms.  “Jason was a good friend and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it” was a frequent tribute from friends and colleagues.   Some of Jason's fondest memories include marrying his wife, Sharon, May 9, 1992, the birth of his grandchildren, supporting and celebrating their achievements, and preparing “Pappy’s” Sunday breakfast.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jamie Eckert (Brian), grandchildren Darian, Quentin, and Lucas; mother, Alma Ellen Nickell; sisters Judy Greathouse (Leonard), JoAnn Asher, Jeanne Bauman (Steve), Joy Nickell (Carlos Diaz), and  brothers James Nickell (Lillian), Jeff Nickell, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jason was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Buster Nickell, nephew Jimmie Junior Tyrrell, brother John Dail Nickell, sister Jan Ellen Tyrrell and brother-in-law Gary Tyrrell, father-in-law Coda Baugher, and mother-in-law Ruby Corbin Baugher.

A memorial service celebrating Jason’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  There will be a visitation from 1:00 until service time Saturday.  Memorial donations are suggested to the donor’s choice and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.

May faith give you strength
May prayers bring you comfort
So Sorry for your loss
Jason was my favorite uncle and I will miss him greatly.
Jason worked hard all of his life. I remember him working out in the fields (farming) with my grandpa when he was very young. The only thing that helps me deal with his death is knowing that he is now with my grandpa in heaven. God bless you Sharon I know you are dealing with a great loss.

Sharon and Family,
I pray for you all daily. That God will give you the strength to get through this. I keep thinking about our heavenly father standing with his arms open wide to welcome Jason. There beside God stands Uncle Jimmy, John, Jan, little Jimmy , Gary and our precious Grandma Cosie and many cousins an Aunts and Uncles.. All smiling from ear to ear at Jason. As the song says... what a day that will be for us and what a glorious day it was for Jason. Please hold on to this we are not saying goodbye to Jason, we are saying see you later.....

Grief never ends
But it changes
It is a passage
Not a place to stay
Grief is not a sign of weakness
Nor a lack of faith
It's the price of love

God bless my family.
We will all miss Jason greatly.
