Reva Treese, an 89-year-old resident of Vincennes, IN, died on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at Fairview Methodist Church, north of Galt. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Berry Cemetery, north of Galt all under the direction of Payne Funeral Home of Galt.
Mrs. Treese was born on May 28, 1926 in Galt, the daughter of Harold and Goldia McCulley Berry. She graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, and taught in and around Galt, before marrying William “Bill” Treese in 1952. They were married for 48 years, living in Bethany, Brookfield, and Maryville, before moving to Vincennes in 1974.
Mrs. Treese was an active member of Heritage Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and volunteered for many years at Good Samaritan Hospital and RSVP. She was also a member of Campers on Missions Indiana, Knox County Extension Homemakers and Knox County Sewing Guild.
She is survived by a brother, Melvin (Laurel) Berry of Galt; a sister, Jeanette (Chuck) Wengert of Montezuma, IA; a daughter, Cherie (Bruce) Williams of Boynton Beach, FL; a son, William Dean (Darlene) Treese Jr., of Vincennes; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Diana Rose Treese; and two brothers, William Berry and James Berry.
Memorials are suggested to the William Treese Memorial Fund Scholarship (Purdue University College of Agriculture Development Office), 715 West State Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907. Checks should be made payable to “Purdue Foundation” with “William Treese Memorial Scholarship” in the memo.
