Amy Inis Rowoth Lynch an 86 year old native of Trenton went home peacefully to be with her Lord on February 5, 2015. Inis was reunited with her sweetheart Lewis while surrounded by her children and under Hospice care at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday February 9, 2015 at Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church northeast of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Honey Creek Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.
Mrs. Lynch was born on the family farm November 4, 1928 the daughter of Joseph Earl and Alpha Viola (Holloway) Rowoth. Inis attended grades 1 through 8 at Herbert School. Inis graduated from Trenton High School in 1946 and continued her education at Trenton Junior College. She received her bachelor degree from Kirksville Teachers’ College and later after her children were grown she went back to Kirksville to earn her Master of Education degree.
Inis married Lewis Lynch just 2 weeks after he returned from the service on November 2, 1952 at Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church. They first lived in the Herbert community and in 1960 purchased and moved to their farm northeast of Trenton. Inis’s life was characterized by a deep love and devotion to her husband and family. She displayed integrity, hope, strength and perseverance in difficult times; and an energy and love for life – one that was well-lived. In 2007 when health issues made it necessary, Lewis and Inis moved to an apartment in town. In 2011 they moved to Sunnyview Apartments and later to the Nursing Home where she resided until her death.
Inis was a loving, intelligent and creative woman who loved children and spent over 33 years teaching. She began teaching in one room schools in rural Grundy County. She was the last teacher at Herbert School before its doors were closed. She spent several years at home with her young children. She taught 2nd grade and Title I Reading at S.M. Rissler where she spent the majority of her teaching career, retiring in May 1993.
Mrs. Lynch was a lifelong member of Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church. She was very active in her church family, giving of her time and talents through teaching, Vacation Bible School, church activities and preparing bulletins and newsletters. Her hospitality was shown by inviting many of the church’s traveling ministers and their families in the home for Sunday meals and relaxation. She had a gift for helping others and was always thankful for what others did for her.
Inis loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Pleasant Center 4-H club. Since retiring she was active in the Grundy County Extension Club and the Retired Teacher Association. She was on the advisory board for the Grundy County Learning Center, assisted at the polls as a judge during elections, and was a member of the Honey Creek Chapel Cemetery Board. She loved playing games and putting puzzles together with grandchildren, going to their activities, baking favorite foods for them, reading, planting flowers, and doing word searches, crossword puzzles and Sudoku.
Inis was the beloved wife and best friend of her one and only love of nearly 62 years, the late Lewis Lynch of Trenton. Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her children Randall Lynch (Brenda) of Union Star, MO, Rhonda Lynch Brown (Steve) of Alexandria, VA, Beverly Lynch Speck (Gary) and Lynda Lynch Snuffer (Ron) of Trenton, a brother Paul Rowoth (Joanne) of Columbia and a sister Mary Curtis of Trenton, 12 grandchildren, Sarah Lynch Morris (Wayne), Ryan Lynch (Jo Anne), Misty Campbell (Logan), Amy Brown Fouse (Steven), Alpha Brown Henry (Dallas), Ashley Brown, Aubrey Brown Kruse (Kelin), Bryan Speck (Sarah), Adam Snuffer (Sacha), Autumn Snuffer, Bailey Snuffer, and Aaron Snuffer, 22 great grandchildren, 6 sister in laws and a brother in law, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, her parents Joe and Alpha Rowoth, three brothers, Alfred Rowoth, Olin Rowoth, Melvin Rowoth; and two sisters, Dorothy Rowoth and Thelma Rowoth.

To all of the Lynch family, my sincere sympathy in your loss. Inis and Lewis are home together! I know their final years were hard, but what a gift you all had for parents! The best! I loved them too!
Inis and Lewis were best friends of my parents. Inis was my mother's trusted and valued colleague for many years. They loved to teach together and they loved their mutual friendship throughout the summer months, laughing and sharing times of school, raising their children and what not. My parents loved to visit Inis & Lewis on the farm, and hosting them at our house. They loved to listen to music together. As a child I have many memories on their farm, I remember my brother bucking hay bales in their fields making some money and muscling up for football for the next fall season. Rhonda is my classmate forever! Memories! Mother and Inis had a special bond - and I will always hold Inis and Lewis a special place in my heart!

You know, it was a blessing for this little old lady to visit with the Lynch children this afternoon.
Let's see. . .Inis Rowoth and I go back some 65 or so years. Inis was a freshman in Trenton Junior College, my sister, Mary Louise
Goodrich was a senior at Trenton Senior High and I a was a lowly sophomore in the old Trenton High School building on Ninth
Street. Seems Inis and I were in the same PE class at times (all students shared the gym). Volley ball was fun but basketball was something else. Once a fellow student had a badly bruised hand and, when I asked about it, she replied, "You stepped on it." Maybe
I should have played football (I really wanted to, but that was unheard of at that time). Her brother Paul and I were good friends for years.
It was good to visit with you today; each have become successful in your chosen field, and both parents have had reason to be
pleased with your accomplishments. Of course, I was and will always be a pusher for education and appreciate others who share
that profession.
Randall, the years spent at TJC as ABE/GED director/instructor were good because it was good to see those who where considered
losers by others often proved that they could earn a High School Equivalency Diploma and go on to college. Once at a meeting of local
educators I was asked about the difference between the ABE/GED certificate and a high school diploma to which I replied that one
had to be able to read to earn a High School Equivalency Certificate but that wasn't always true with a high school diploma. True, but
it certainly didn't win friends and influence people among those at the meeting. And Congratulations! on earning your Masters
Rhonda, Bev and Linda your interest in education must have been fulfilling to your mother. With the government trying to mess with
the educational system values (core curriculum?), more parents may to resort to home schooling because good teachers may become
hard to find. Home schooling was not for this family; in fact, the lives of a couple of them might have been in danger had that been the only option available.
Enough of this. You all need to know that it has been a pleasure to have known your mother and family, and she will be missed by all
Love and prayers
