Archie L. Smith, an 86 year old long time resident of Galt, MO., passed away at 9:15 a.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Galt Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening at the church. The family will be at the home of James and Susan Brown in Galt.

Archie Leon Smith was born March 30, 1928 in Lindley, MO to William Elsworth and Elma (Taylor) Smith. He graduated with the class of 1947 from Humphreys High School. On February 12, 1950 he was united in marriage to Raymah Lee Searcy in Galt.  Archie had worked for the Simmons Mattress Factory and General Motor’s in Kansas City, KS., before he and Raymah moved back to Galt in 1958. While farming and raising cattle, Archie was very active in the Galt community serving on the Galt Fair Board and the Liberty Township. He also ran a maintainer for the Liberty Township and was a member of the Galt Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include his wife Raymah of Galt, daughters Judy Turner of Galt and Susan Brown and her husband James of Galt, a son Steven Smith and his wife Shelly of Trenton, sisters Ellen Couch and her husband Gary of Milan, MO and Myrtle Boram of Trenton, five grandchildren, Taylor Jo Turner, Jeremy Brown and his wife Katy, "John" Jay Brown, Whitney Trump and her husband Clint, and Kala Smith, three great grandchildren, Jax Brown, Wade Brown, and Cason Trump, five step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.

Those preceding him in death include his parents, five brothers; Byron Smith, Keith Smith, Gerald Smith, Murl Smith, and Marvin Smith and five sisters; Lela Downen, Mae McNanna, Ila Parrish, Betty Nida, and Edith Smith and a son-in-law Joe Turner.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Galt Ladies Fire Auxiliary and may be left or mailed to the Payne Funeral Home of Galt.
