Francis Pauley, an 87 year old resident of Newtown, MO, passed away at 4:25 AM Sunday November 14, 2010 in the emergency room at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Newtown Christian Church at Newtown. A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 PM Tuesday the Payne Funeral Home at Galt. Burial following military graveside rites will be in the Newtown Cemetery.
Mr. Pauley was born on September 15, 1923 near Harris, MO the son of Alford and Hazel Hines Pauley. He graduated from Newtown High School and joined the United States Army Air Force in 1943. He served overseas during the war in the European-African and Middle East as an aerial gunner. He received the Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters and 5 bronze stars. After his discharge as a Staff Sergeant he returned home and on December 17, 1947 he was married to Helen Doolin at Princeton, MO. They have lived and farmed in the Newtown community all their married lives. Mr. Pauley was also a carpenter when not farming. They retired from the farm and moved into Newtown to make their home in 1993.
Mr. Pauley is survived by his wife, Helen Pauley of the home in Newtown, MO; a daughter, Vileta, now Mrs. Larry Griffin of Trenton, MO; a son, Richard and his wife, Pam, of Centerville, IA; a brother, Joe Pauley of Trenton, MO; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Pauley and a grandson, Brian Pauley.
Memorial contributions should be left to the Newtown Cemetery.
