Maynard Bonta, a 92 year old former Trenton resident, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.  A visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday.  Open visitation will begin Monday morning at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to either the Jewett Norris Library or to Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bonta was born on July 3, 1922 in Trenton, MO the son of Willard and Clara (Hildebrand) Bonta. He worked and retired from the U.S. Postal service in 1986 and also did locksmith work. He was married to Katherine Kirkwood on July 3, 1943 in Trenton, MO; she preceded him in death on December 13, 2013. They lived in Marshall the last few years to be close to their daughter.  Maynard  was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he served on many boards and committees as well as a past president of the Trenton Park Board, past president of the Riverside Country Club, Past Exalted Ruler of Elk’s Lodge #801, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He also enjoyed reading, golf, baseball, playing cards, telling stories, crossword puzzles and dancing.
Mr. Bonta is survived by a daughter, Sara Hargrave and her husband, Jim of Marshall, MO; two grandchildren, Rob Hargrave and his wife Rachel of Marshall, MO and Jamie Collins and her husband, Tyler of Jefferson City, MO; three great grandchildren, Alexis Hargrave, Logan Collins, and Leighton Collins and many nieces and nephews.
