Pastor Charles R. Peters, a 79 year old Cameron resident and former Trenton resident, passed to his heavenly home Sunday morning July 20, 2014 at the North Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Cameron. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A scheduled visitation will be from 7 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton.
Mr. Peters was born on August 14, 1934 in Lindley, MO the son of Veldon and Hazel (Ogan) Peters. He graduated Trenton High School (53) and studied at Manhattan Bible College, Culver-Stockton College, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was married on December 25, 1953 in Edinburg, MO to Martha Ferguson. He pastored Christian churches in Martinsburg, Ellsberry, Faucett, and Buckner; then pastored Southern Baptist churches in Greenwood, Laredo, Gilman City, Wheaton, King City, Union Church in Chula and Alpha Church east of Laredo. He also started Countryside Baptist Church in Blue Springs. He felt called to small churches and was almost always bivocational. Charles loved people and spent his life ministering to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Peters of Cameron, MO, son Stanley Peters and wife Linda of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Charla Eads and husband David of Cameron, MO, son Roy Peters of Warsaw, MO, son Timothy Peters of Overland Park, KS, brother Ronald Peters and wife Linda of Trenton, MO, and sister-in-law Rachel Peters of Independence, MO; eight grandchildren: Kacey (Eads) Taylor, Sarah (Peters) Newport, Kristy (Eads) Eckerson, Katie (Peters) Hunt, Kelly Eads, Jennifer (Peters) Bryan, Jessica Peters, and Mallory Peters; and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Peters and a son, Martin Peters.
