H.L. “Bud” Cox, a 71 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 5:25 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, MO.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton, MO.  Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton, MO.  Memorial donations are suggested to the Tree House at Liberty, MO.

H.L. “Bud” Cox was born Aug 19, 1939 in Grundy County to Harry Ferrol and Helen Roberta Crowder Cox.  On September 13, 1964 he was united in marriage to Dottie Morris in Trenton, MO.  Bud was a farmer in Grundy County as well as being a transportation manager for 22 years for three local bus companies.  Bud served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for 35 years.  Bud served on a large number of number of community boards and committees including serving as Grundy County 2nd District Commissioner for 15 years, Grundy County Extension Council, Green Hills Human Resources, Green Hills Community Action Agency, Green Hills Regional Planning Commission, Green Hills Resource Conservation and Development Council as president, Democratic Central Committee, Lincoln Township Board as Trustee, Tax Increment Financing Board, County Commissioners Association of Missouri, Missouri Association of Counties, National Association of Counties, Juvenile Advisory Board, Emergency Planning Commission and the 911 Board.

He was a member of the South Evans Christian Church and had served his country in the United States Army.

Surviving relatives include his wife Dottie of the home, a son Stephen Cox and his wife Kim of Holly, MI, a foster son C.W. Rogers Jr., a sister Janice Urick of Brookfield, MO, and a brother David Cox of Mercer, MO, and grand-daughters Jessica Schettling and her husband Scott of Fenton, MI and Tanya Kaye and two great grandchildren Emma and Alexander Kaye.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was the greatest man I ever knew. I miss him very much and wish I could have done more. Not a day goes by that he is not in my thoughts. I will never forget him. He was an inspiration to me and everyone else. I loved him very much. His son, Stephen Cox.

I just recently learned that your husband, Bud, has passed away. I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and I will remember you and your family in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss.
