James E. Smith a 73 year old Melbourne, MO resident passed away at 3:06 p.m., June 11, 2014 at his residence while under hospice care.
His body is to be cremated under the direction of Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton, with the family to hold services at a later date. Memorial donations may be left to the Mitchell Cemetery and left with or mailed to the funeral home.
James Smith was born November 10, 1940 in Farmersville, TX to Jessie William and Mable May (Johnson) Smith. He graduated from Yselta High School in El Paso, TX. Mr. Smith worked as a fiber optic lineman for AT&T until running his own fiber optic business “Relicom” for 22 years.
Surviving relatives include his brothers and sisters; Aletta Terry also of Melbourne, Jessie Smith Jr. and his wife Pat of Alvarado, TX, Jerry Smith and his wife Christy of El Paso, TX, and Peggy Bowen of Gallatin, MO. He is also survived by a great nephew Curtis Smith and his wife Carrie and their children Ellie and Emmery who were care givers and lived with him for the past few years.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, a sister Lorene Reynolds, a brother Bobby Smith and a brother-in-law, Ralph Terry.
