On August 3, 1924, Dorothy Mae Brown was born at the family home near Kidder, MO. She was the daughter of George Leonard and Goldie Marie Oaks Brown. Dorothy was raised in a good Christian home along with older brother Elmer Marvin "Buster" and devoted younger brother Dale Lee. The family moved to Trenton where Dorothy graduated in 1941. On December 24, 1942, she married Glenn Raymond Moore in Wichita Falls, TX. They lived out west during Glenn's military service and Dorothy was a secretary for a general. When first daughter Glenda Kay was born Dorothy became a stay-at-home wife and mom. Following the end to the war, the family moved back to Trenton. Joining in this family were daughters Janet Sue and Carol Ann and son George Robert.
Dorothy was devoted to her children being active in the Norton PTA (assisting in the yearly chili suppers), serving as den mother for her son, taking car loads of boys to baseball games and supporting all four in their many activities. She was a mother to all of the neighborhood children who gathered at their home after school for play. Her friends in the TASK club provided her with many hours of card playing, conversation, and family parties. Dorothy was very active in her church and civic activities. Any occasion was a good excuse for a large family gathering and they all ended with playing cards or dominoes. Family vacations with camping and swimming were a must.
Dorothy is survived by her children Glenda Kay/Myron Holder of Chillicothe, Janet Sue Pettyjohn/Martin Pecorino of Spring Hill, FL, Carol Ann/Ken Reger of Milan, and George Robert/Kay Moore of Trenton. She is also survived by sister-in-law Laura Brown and grandchildren Matthew Holder, Mark/Leslie Holder, Michael/Hailey Holder, Mitchell/Lorie Holder, Lisa Glass, Melanie Byrnes, Bobby Pettyjohn, Mark Reger, Tom Reger, Kari/David Whitaker, Kristi/Rob Campbell, Kelli/Phil Griffith, Lindsey/Joe Jacobs, and Tommy/Claudia Lattimore. There are 24 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. She has several nieces and nephews surviving.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, and great grandchild Morgan Holder.
