The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.

He was born in Chillicothe, MO on December 23, 1942, to Mary Elizabeth McCarthy Boehner and the late Henry Joseph Boehner. After graduating Trenton High School in 1961, Mr. Boehner attended Trenton Junior College and the University of Missouri at Columbia.  He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.  He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge in Trenton as well as Moila Shrine Temple in St. Joseph, MO.

Through the years, Jim was employed at various positions, starting at National Car Rental in the 1960s, then working at Barnes Greenhouses through most of the 1970s.  He sold heavy equipment at Cooke’s in Chillicothe, and some of the first “car phones” in Kansas City during the early 1980s. Later, he operated Boehner Travel in Trenton for several years.  Most recently he was a self-employed contractor remodeling residential and commercial property.

Over the past 15 months Jim was a devoted caretaker for his mother.

In addition to his daughters, he is survived by his wife, Susan Boehner of Chillicothe, MO; his mother, Mary Boehner of Trenton, MO; a sister Marge Boehner (Dick Osborne) of Fort Collins, CO; and brothers Richard Boehner (Mary) of St. Joseph, MO; and Jack Boehner (Cheri) of Parkville, MO.  He also leaves five grandchildren: Mackenzie and Thomas Mack; and Madison, Avery and Gentry Boland; and eight nieces and nephews.

Dear Mary, Marge, Dick and Jack,

I was deeply saddened to learn of Jim's passing. Although several years ahead of me in school, Jim was always one of those guys the younger fellows admired and emulated while growing up.

Jim was popular in high school, active in sports and a pretty good dancer at those country club dances in the old log cabin clubhouse. And he had that million dollar smile no one could forget!

I know he was a fine son and brother. And he will be missed by you and by his wife, children and others. And by all who knew him.

Our prayers are with each of you during this time of grief.

God bless,

Kim Andereck and family

Hello Marge, Jack, Dick, and Family Members,

What a shock to read about Jim this morning. I'm still in shock @ nearly 3:00 pm. The the news brought back so many good memories of knowing all of you and knowing how much the friendship of Joe and Mary met to Dorothy & Herb.

Jim certainly had a varied career. I hear from my few Trenton contacts that he took really good care of Mary these last few years.

I am not sure if I like the e-mail notice and web-based condolences or not. Certainly we got the news and could share it with friends and classmates. Since I don't have any of your mailing addresses, am glad for this opportunity to express my sympathy.

On behalf of Dorothy and our family in California and Arkansas, we are so sorry for your loss.
