Eldon “Poosey” Cox, an 87 year old resident of the Eastview Manor Care Center passed away at 12:20 AM Tuesday October 5, 2010 at the Care Center where he had resided for the past 4 years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton. No scheduled visitation is planned. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Trenton. Memorial contributions have been suggested to be left to the North 65 Senior Center in Trenton. These may be left at or mailed to the Resthaven Mortuary at P.O.Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.

Poosey was born in Harrison Township near Brimson, MO the son of Paul and Lulu Ratliff Cox on September 1, 1923. He was raised in the Brimson and Gilman City areas and on April 14, 1943 he was married to Nina Belle Collins at Trenton, MO. She preceded him dying on May 5, 1996. After their marriage they lived in Trenton where he worked for Grundy Electrial Co-Op until beginning work with Missouri Public Service Company as a lineman. In 1960 he was transferred to Jamesport as the serviceman serving Lock Springs, Jamesport, Brimson, Edinburg and Gilman City. In 1989 he retired and they moved to Trenton to make their home.

He was a member of the Coon Creek Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Trenton Masonic Lodge #111 A.F. & A.M.

Poosey is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dixie Cox of Trenton, MO; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Eads of Trenton, MO; two grandchildren, Jeff Eads and his wife Sheila of Trenton, MO and Melissa Dolan of Galt, MO; 4 great-grandchildren, Tommy and Addison Eads and McKenna and McKenzy Dolan; one brother, Dallas Cox of Jamesport, MO a sister, Elsie Allison of Sun City, AZ and a ½ sister, Lawan Whitman of Bell Garden, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Wanda Woltje and Wilma Wells and three brothers, Jim, Dale and Ivan Cox.

Sending my deepest sympathy in the loss of your wonderful dad, there was only one Poosey and I know he was loved and will be greatly missed. I will never forget his laugh and his love for others.

My deepest condolences to the family of a wonderful man whom you never knew what he was going to say and when. He always kept the nurses laughing. He was an inspiration to every one and will be missed dearly. Our prayers are with the family as there are some hard times to follow. We will keep an eye on Dallas and family. Take care.

Our deepest sympathy in the loss of your dad and grandpa. We both have wonderful memories of Poosey that Jim and I was sharing at the supper table tonight. I am sure he will be greatly missed. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.

We were so sorry to hear about your Dad/Grandpa. I am sorry we can't be there for you, but are thinking about you at this difficult time. I am sure he is dancing in heaven and having a great time! You have a lot of good memories to rely on. Our prayers are with you.
