Bob Hanes, an 81-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph.
Funeral services for Bob Hanes will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton, followed by military graveside rites. A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2015 at the mortuary.
Mr. Hanes was born on Nov. 30, 1932 in Gilman City, the son of Vernon and Sarah Turley Hanes. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was married in Topeka, KS on June 21, 1958 to Theresa Schell, who preceded him in death on July 31, 2005. He farmed and also owned and operated The Steak House in Trenton since 1978.
Mr. Hanes is survived by four sons, Mike Hanes and his wife, Rita of Trenton, Carl Hanes and his wife, Kendra of Trenton, Jim Hanes and his wife, Tammy of Trenton and Kevin Hanes and his wife, Penny of Jamesport; and seven grandchildren, Mindy Foster and her husband, Brian, and children, Kylar, Kaydan and Aynsley; Krista Kasey and son, Jaidrian; Craig Hanes and his wife, Jessica and children, Aubrey and Carter; Susan Allen and her husband, Levi and children, Axle and baby; Nic Hanes and his fiance, Misty Lingard, and children, Haylee, Kameron and Payton; Colbi Kirk and her husband, Jeremy and son, Ryeland; and Adam Hanes and his wife, Lora and daughter, Zoey. He is also survived by other family and friends, including a special friend, Arleen Peters.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Lawrence and Gary.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the Bob and Theresa Memorial, with money to be used to purchase a memorial bench.
The family will be at Bob Hanes residence, 255 S.W. Hwy W, Trenton, MO 64683.
