Mrs. Retha Whitt, 88, passed away early Wednesday morning September 15, 2010 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton where she had been a patient for one day.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton. A scheduled family visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions have been suggested to be given to the Hatton Chapel Methodist Church.
Mrs. Whitt was born on December 6, 1921 at Bethany, MO the daughter of Earl and Lois Taggart Wooderson. She was raised on the family farm west of Blue Ridge and graduated from Bethany High School. She attended beauty academy in Kansas City, MO before her marriage to Grover Donald Whitt on August 17, 1946 at Leavenworth, KS. He preceded her dying on September 30, 2002. After they were married they moved to the Forks of the River community in Grundy County, MO where they farmed. They moved to Bethany for a year before returning to the farm where they farmed until 1974 when they moved to a farm north of Spickard. She had resided in Trenton since the fall of 2002.
She was a member of the Hatton Chapel Methodist Church.
Mrs. Whitt is survived by two sons, K.D. Whitt (Sherry) and Sylvester Whitt both of rural Princeton, MO; three daughters, Donna Whitt of Chillicothe, MO and Twyla (Wayne) Johnson of Spickard, MO and Susan (Charles) Birdson of Albuquerque, NM;
a sister, Eleanor Moore of Atchinson, KS; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded by a sister, Deloris Lowe and a brother Delno Wooderson.
