Edwin G. Chaney, a 71 year old Gilman City, MO, resident, passed away at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MO.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in the Willis Chapel Cemetery near Brimson, MO. A visitation is scheduled from 5 until 6 Sunday at the funeral home. Open visitation will begin at noon Sunday. Memorial donations may be used for funeral expenses and left with or mailed to the funeral home.
Edwin G. Chaney was born December 16, 1941 in Trenton, MO the son of David Herman and Goldie Beatrice Chaney. He attended Melbourne and Gilman City schools. On December 21, 1962 he was united in marriage to Mary Dowell in Laredo. Edwin was a well-known mechanic in the area and enjoyed automobile sports including demolition derbies and tractor pulls. Edwin and Mary also enjoyed attending local auctions.
Surviving relatives include his wife Mary of the home, 6 sons; Herman and his wife Melanie of Cainsville, MO, George and his wife Nancy of Gilman City, MO, Rex and his wife Christine of Brimson, MO, Delbert of Gilman City, Virgil of Brimson and Ricky of Melbourne, a daughter Patricia Hedden of Independence, MO, a sister Mildred Rose Chaney of Trenton, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, a son Donnie L. Chaney, a son-in-law John Hedden, and brothers David Jr. and Arthur.
