Virginia Duffy, an 84 year old Trenton, MO resident passed away at 3:25 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Wright Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Tenth Street Baptist Church in Trenton. A visitation is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. Memorial donations are suggested to either Children’s Mercy or the Ronald McDonald House.
Virginia Mae Duffy was born November 7, 1925 in Trenton to Doyle and Lela Stringer Jobe. After High School, Mrs. Duffy worked as a nurse at Culler’s Hospital, and later as a nurse in Dr. Oliver Duffy’s office, until their retirement. On February 15, 1947 she was married to Bill Petterson in Trenton. On March 23, 1986 she was united in marriage to Dr. Oliver Duffy. He preceded her in death December 8, 1995. She was very devoted to her patients and especially her family. Mrs. Duffy became a member of Tenth Street Baptist Church in Trenton, on February 18, 1989
Mrs. Duffy is survived by two daughters, Gayle Gibson and her husband, M.S. of Trenton, MO and Connie Burgher and her husband, Ron of Oceanside, CA; a sister, Doris Works of Trenton, MO, a brother Carl Jobe of AR; a step son, David Duffy of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Gina, Shana, Eric, and Kirk as well as seven great grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband, brothers Merlin and Ralph Jobe, and a sister Helen McClaskey.
