Kevin Dean McClaflin, a 56 year old resident of Trenton, MO, passed away at 10:21 am, August 22, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO, where he had been a patient for five days.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Burial will be in Coon Creek Cemetery in Brimson. A visitation is scheduled from 6-8 pm on Sunday at Resthaven.
Kevin was born April 2, 1957 in Bethany Missouri, the son of Dean McClaflin and Sandra (Gott) McClaflin. He was raised in Bethany. He went to work for Modine Manufacturing at the age of 18, where he was employed for 38 years. Kevin was a member of Coon Creek Baptist Church, where he was baptized on November 15, 2009. Kevin’s passion was his children, grandkids, great-grandkids and old cars. His pride and joy was his ‘78 Black Knight El Camino.
Kevin and Lela Houk-Craig were joined in marriage on June 20, 1992. Of this union were four children, Kim Hughs, Karla Barrett, Kaila Swan, and Keona Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife, Lela of the home; 12 grandkids, LaToya Berry, Luke Hughs, Landon Hughs, LaKisha Hughs, Kari Smith, Laci Smith, Ashli Smith, Kelsi McDaniels, Joseph Suarez, Londyn May Snyder, Nick Swan, and Lian Swan; four great grandkids, Xzavier Berry, Xadrienne Berry, Nyla Fairhurst, and Collin Monaghan; two sisters, Tammy Barnes of Belton Missouri, and Angel Harbin of Wisconsin; step mother, Norma McClaflin; his brother and sister in laws, Dianna and Steve Stockman, David and Diana Houk, Alice and John Larkins, Arthur and Lavone Houk, Steve and Karen Houk, Kip and DeEtta Houk, and Sarah and Monty Bonnett; aunts and uncles, Brenda and Jim Coffman and David and Dorothy Gott.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dean McClaflin; mother, Sandra Harbin; grandparents, Walter E and Cordie Gott and William McClaflin and Bulah Long Johnson; step father, Robert (Bob) Harbin; brother, Gregory McClaflin; sister, Debbie McClure; and sister in law, Laura Jane Martin.
