Maxine Whitney, a 96 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 6:07 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
A visitation is scheduled from noon until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton with a graveside service to follow at Edinburg I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Edinburg, MO. Memorial donations are suggested to the Edinburg I.O.O.F. Cemetery and may be left with the funeral home.
Maxine M. Whitney was born August 10, 1917 at her family home near Jamesport, MO to Homer and Ella (Pinkston) Rosenbaum. She attended North Oakland Grade School, which was a one room school she rode her horse to, and attended one year of high school at Edinburg before graduating from Jamesport High School. On June 4, 1939 she was united in marriage to L.H. Whitney in Clinton, MO. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1974. She worked for Cisco and Marts Drug stores as well as doing custom hand quilting for her family members and others. Her enjoyments include watching her family’s ball games and playing cards. She was a member of the 10th Street Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include her son, Roger Whitney of Brimson, MO; daughter, Nila Veach and her husband, Buck of Corydon, IA; a daughter in law, Sharon Whitney of Trenton, MO; 8 grandchildren Jeff Whitney and his wife Melinda, Denise Thomas, Dawn Sjomeling and her husband Guy, Mike Whitney, Kathy Watkins, Colton Whitney, Angela Veach Petty, Cody Veach and his wife Lisa, 11 great-grandchildren; Hannah, Conner, Nicholas, Dawson, Jordan, Dally, Davin, Mason, Cody, Alianna, , and Jenny, as well as nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband, a son Ronnie “Bloss” Whitney, a sister Letha Saul, and grandchildren Zachary Thomas and Dillon Watkins.
