Norma Belle (McClanahan) Foster, 82, a lifelong resident of Newtown, MO, died Sunday, August 4,2013 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville, IA.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday August 8, 2013 at the Newtown Christian Church. Interment will be at the Busby Cemetery. A scheduled visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Newtown Christian Church.
She was born November 2, 1930 at Newtown Missouri, the daughter of Edgar and Mary (Barnes) McClanahan. She graduated from Newtown High School in 1948 and worked for a short time at the Harris Bank. She married Vern Foster July 9, 1950. Together they managed the family farm outside of Newtown. They were blessed with three children, Everett, Gary and Vickie. Norma was a member of the Newtown Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer for many years. She was the Clay township treasurer as well as president of the PTA. Norma is survived by 2 sons, Everett Foster of Newtown, MO; Gary(Marilyn) Foster of Centerville, IA; and one daughter Vickie Bell of DeSoto IA; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; her parents, one brother Eugene McClanahan and one sister Roberta Brown.
