Ruth Lucille Otto Boehner an 89 year old Newtown, MO resident passed away at 11:30 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Long Term Care Center in Milan, MO.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Newtown Christian Church in Newtown, MO. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery at Harris, MO. A visitation is scheduled from 6:30 until 8:00 Sunday evening at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Harris Cemetery or the Newtown Christian Church and may be left with Payne Funeral Home of Galt.
Ruth Boehner was born September 26, 1923 near Plover, IA to Wilbur H. and Bessie M. Otto Roberts. On November 2, 1940 she was united in marriage to Willard L. Otto. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1988. On July 28, 1990 she was remarried to John Boehner. He also preceded her in death on January 13, 1997. Mrs. Boehner spent much of her life as a cook both for the school and the three restaurants she had owned and operated as well as Marcella Farley’s Catering. She also worked for a rental business, a convenience store, with the city of Milan, Shatto Oil, DFS, and as a processing energy assistant for Sullivan and Putnam Gas. At the age of 60 she received her G.E.D. after not being allowed to graduate high School because she was married two weeks prior to graduation. She was a member of the Newtown Christian Church, the Harris Town and Country Club and served on the Sullivan County OATS Board.
Surviving relatives include her 8 children; Ivan Otto of Newtown, MO, Jerry Otto and his wife Virginia of Laurens, IA, Barbara Metcalf and her husband Gary of Newtown, Art Otto and his wife Janice of Newtown, Bill Otto and his wife Karen of Newtown, Teresa Pauley of Centerville, IA, Tim Otto and his wife Julie of Deerborn, MO, and Willie Otto and his wife Kim of Marshfield, MO, sisters Sharon Scott and her husband Conrad of Colo, IA and Ida Stafford of Litchfield, IA, a brother Charles Otto of Glendale, AZ, a sister in law Mary Joy Roberts of Roth, IA, 26 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husbands, a daughter Pauline Miller Parsons, a grandson Brian W. Pauley, and a great granddaughter Rian Wilson.
