John Richard Swank, a 72-year-old Trenton resident, died at 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
Visitation is scheduled from 7 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the funeral home. Open visitation will begin Tuesday morning.
Mr. Swank was born on Oct. 6, 1940 in Reger, the son of Millard Frances and Imogene McKay Swank. He was married on Sept. 30, 1962 to Anna Mae Williams at the Asbury Methodist Church in Sullivan County. He spent 42 years working for Trenton Foods, retiring in 2002. He was one of the original volunteer firefighters for Grundy County in the 1980’s and enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping as well as going to his grandchildren’s ballgames.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Anna Mae Swank of the home; sons Larry Swank of Trenton and Brian Swank of Princeton; a brother Eldon Swank and his wife, Shirley of Milan; and three grandchildren, Chris Buckner, Anna Swank and Logan Swank.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Thelma McCaughey; and a grandson, Travis Swank.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Saint Luke’s Hospice or Boy Scout Troop 105 and may be left with the funeral home.
