Lula Smith, an 86 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at her residence while under hospice care.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the First Assembly of God in Trenton. Burial will be in the Stucker Cemetery, south west of Laredo. A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mrs. Smith was born November 8, 1926 in Dunlap, MO, the daughter of Harley and Madge (Cook) Baugher. She was married to Julius Smith of Clarksdale, MO in 1960; he preceded her in death on July 14, 1999. They lived on their farm for 32 years. Both worked outside the home until Julius’s health failed. They move to Trenton to be closer to their son.
Lula worked in sewing factories for 69 years. The last 18 years of her career was at Midwest glove in Chillicothe, MO. She loved the life God chose for her, being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and needlework of all kinds and most of all, her quiet time with God. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Trenton.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Sam Smith and his wife, Cathie of Trenton, MO; 2 daughters, Sharon Ferguson and her husband, Lloyd of St Joseph, MO and Nancy Waggoner and her husband, Roy of Enid, OK; a sister, Connie Thomas and her husband, Glen of Chillicothe, MO; 3 brothers, Ardell Baugher of Chillicothe, MO, Ernest Baugher of Lexington, MO, and Edward Baugher and his wife, Marjorie of Wichita, KS; a sister in law, Marie Baugher of Plattsburg, MO; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald Ray Baugher and Robert Baugher; 3 sisters, infant sister, Sara Baugher, Betty Mayberry, and Trula Walker; 3 sister in laws, Julia Baugher, Lavona Baugher, and Margaret Buagher; and 3 brother in laws, Carl Walker, Kelly Mayberry, and Orvall Ship.
