Mabel Clark a 99 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 5:40 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Sunnyview Nursing Home where she has resided for 8 years.
A visitation is scheduled from 10:00 until 11:00 Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton, with a Graveside funeral service to follow at Rural Dale Cemetery East of Trenton. Open visitation will begin at noon on Thursday. Memorial donations are suggested to the Rural Dale Cemetery.
Mabel Clark was born March 4, 1913 in Brimson, MO to DeWitt Clinton and Hattie Priscilla Gregg Brown Jr. She lived most of her life in Grundy and Livingston counties, graduating from Trenton High School in 1931. On June 10, 1936 she was united in marriage to Scott J. Clark. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1980. In 1952 Mrs. Clark graduated from North East State Teachers College at Kirksville with bachelor’s degree in education, and then a Masters of Education in 1970. She retired from teaching in 1978. Mrs. Clark was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe where she taught Sunday school class for many years. She was also a member of many organizations including a life member of the Grand River Historical Society, the Genealogy Society of Grundy County, Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Organization, the American Association of University Women and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Clark is survived by her niece Norma Fay Cross of Raymore, MO and a number of great nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband, an infant son Gary J. Clark, two brothers Harry and Dale Brown, and a sister Fern Brown.
