Frances Oyler, a 91 year old resident of Kansas City, MO, passed away at 6:04 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Liberty terrace Health Care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.  Burial will be in Hatton Chapel Cemetery, north of Trenton.  

She was born on September 3, 1920 the daughter of Cornelius Bert and Mary Blanche (Moore) Oyler at the farm home in Harrison Township, Grundy County, MO, the second of seven children. Frances was known to her family as “Beth”

Frances attended Shott rural elementary school, Tindall Junior High School and graduated from Trenton High School.  Transportation to junior high was four miles by foot or horseback and during winter months she stayed at a boarding house in Tindall.

In 1941 she moved to Washington D.C. as a nanny for her cousin’s baby and later obtained a job with the General Services Administration of the Federal Government.  During the war she joined other young women of the area who helped entertain service men at the USO.  She attended church at Del Ray Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

In 1951 she transferred her job from Washington D.C. to Kansas City.  In October, 1953, she transferred church membership from Hatton Chapel Methodist Church, Grundy County, MO, where she was a pianist and choir member in her youth, to Grand Avenue Temple Methodist Church, Kansas City, MO, where she was active as teacher, officer, choir member and participant in the singles group.  She retired from the Federal Government January, 1976 after 34 years of service and later worked part time for a Bank in Kansas City.

She was a member and president for two years of the Business and Professional Women of Kansas City Club Inc., a member of Delta Theta Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, and a member of AARP Chapter 82, holding various offices.  

Frances was very much a family person and loyal friend.  She helped care for her mother and brother over a five year period of time at their rural home in Trenton, MO and helped care for friends who had no family to lean on.  She thoroughly enjoyed her church, clubs, nieces and nephews and their children.

She leaves a brother, Max Berton Oyler of Trenton, MO; sister in law, Rhoda Davidson Oyler of Trenton, MO; sister Mary Blanche Oyler Larison of Kansas City, MO; nephew, Dennis Oyler and his wife, Marilyn of Louisiana, niece, Teresa Oyler and her friend, Steve Wells; niece, Lisa Larison Hallier and her husband, Scott of Parkville, MO; great niece, Kathryn West of Colorado; great nephews, Chris Oyler of Texas, and Luke, Mark, and Charles Hallier of Parkville, MO.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grand Avenue Methodist Church (205 E 9th, K.C. , MO 64106 or Hatton Chapel Church, or they can be left at Resthaven Mortuary, P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683
