Sue Allen, an 83 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Heartland Hospital of St Joseph, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. There is no visitation.  Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Allen was born on August 12, 1928 in Princeton, MO the daughter of Lang and Vesta (Harkins) Leonard.  She was raised in Princeton and Trenton, and graduated from Trenton High School in 1946.  She was married to Paul P. Allen on October 6, 1946 in Wichita, KS; he preceded her in death on December 5, 2011.  They had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary days before they both fell terminally ill.  She died after a long and difficult recovery from emergency surgery.  Paul and Sue alternated living in Trenton and southern California, finally settling in Trenton in 2003.  Sue worked at various accounting/bookkeeping jobs in Trenton, including Montgomery Ward, Keith Potter, The Crown Restaurant, and Bowden Real Estate.  Paul and Sue were founding charter members of the Thursday After Supper “Task” Klub.  Sue enjoyed traveling with Paul, visiting with grand kids, and talking.  She was known for her entertaining colloquialisms.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her two sons, Steve Allen and his companion, Stacy of Fargo, ND and Scott and his wife, Brenda Allen of Westlake Village, CA; a brother, L.J. Leonard of Cedar Rapids, IA; 2 granddaughters who live in CA and 3 grandsons who live in ND and CA; and 5 great-grandchildren who live in CA.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Browning.

The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, they can be left at or mailed to Resthaven Mortuary, P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO  64683.

So sorry at Sue''s death. She was such a sweet and gracious lady. I often ran into Paul and Sue at garage sales and we always had such a good visit. Of course, I will always remember the times our families were together for TASK club events. She was very proud of her sons.
