Max Mason, an 82 year old resident of Harris, MO passed away at 10:23 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his residence while under hospice care.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Payne Funeral Home of Galt.  Rev. Denny Daum will officiate.  A scheduled visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.  Burial will be in the Asbury Cemetery.

Mr. Mason was born on August 14, 1929 in Osgood, MO the son of Chester and Beulah Taylor Mason.  After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He was married to Lois Bunch on June 1, 1952 in Harris, MO where they farmed all their married lives.  He served on the Newtown-Harris School board and was a 4-H leader for many years.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Lois of the home; a son, Larry Mason and friend, Pam Evenoff of Harris, MO; two sisters, Etta Crawford of Oxford, OH and Gayla Carter and her husband, Bernard of Springfield, MO; a brother, Carl Mason and his wife, Josie of Pittsbaro, NC; two grandchildren, Corey Mason, currently serving in Kuwait and Hilary Mason of Unionville, MO; a step granddaughter, Lacey Gilworth of Unionville, MO; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Jane Mason; and a granddaughter, Katie Brooke Mason.

Lois: I am sorry for your loss. I was always fond of Max. Enjoyed talking to him at Old Timers. Was looking foreward to our 65th this year, however our grandson is getting married that weekend and won''''t be able to make it.
