Elizabeth Katherine McMillan, of Galt, MO passed away peacefully at her home on January 12, 2012. She was 98 years old.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton, MO. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens. A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 Saturday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be left to the donor’s choice.
She was born on September 23, 1913 in Galt, MO the daughter of Charles Roy Russell and Molly Hosom Russell. She attended elementary and high school in Galt.
Katherine married Clayton McMillan on July 17, 1931. They resided in Liberty, MO and Kansas City until their retirement in 1964. She studied at the Art Institute and Marie Kelley-William J. Mack School of Dance and Drama in Kansas City, and was a published poet.
They returned to Galt in 1964 to build a cattle operation and establish their real estate business, McMillan Real Estate, specializing in farm real estates. Katherine managed the office for the company until their second retirement. They enjoyed traveling with friends, entertaining and their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Katherine pursued her father’s love for raising horses and riding throughout her life. She continued her love of drawing painting and music through her final years. She is known for being a great cook and her sense of humor.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, and her beloved daughter, Marilyn Katherine. She is survived by her son, Randall Russell, of Galt; three grandchildren: Lori Bitter of Alameda, CA; Russell McMillan of Peoria, IL; and Kimberly Underwood of Galt, MO.; four great grandchildren: Travis Gibson of Liberty, MO; Ashley Mercier of Alameda, CA; Katherine Bitter, of Alameda, CA; and Molly Loghry of Kansas City, MO. She has three great-great grandsons: Dylan and Connor Gibson, and Gabriel Mercier.
