Anna G. McKay an 89 year old resident of Trenton, MO, passed away at 7:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton where she resided for 2 years
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7 Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are requested in lieu of flowers by the family to be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
Anna Gertrude Snyder was born Feb. 22, 1922 the only child of James R. and Phoebe J. Jumper Snyder of Princeton, MO. Anna married Harry McKay May 28, 1939 in Galt, MO and they lived their entire marriage in Trenton. She worked 25 years at Wright Memorial Hospital during which time she attended the first LPN program at NCMC 1967-1968. Anna was the first person to receive the Humanitarian award in 1983 from Wright Memorial Hospital and community. She was the president of the VFW Ladies Aux. and a member of the Wright Memorial Ladies Aux., and the Republican Woman’s Org. Anna was a 65 year member of the Rebekah Lodge serving as Nobel Grand three times as well as state Chaplain one year as well as a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge for 13 years.
Anna enjoyed making over 35 quilts, reading her Bible and poetry. She loved her family and helping people. She also collected many things which include over 200 dolls a couple of which are over 100 years old.
Anna and Harry had four children; Annette Brodie, James, Ray and Bill McKay, seven grandchildren Anna Brodie, Carol Holloway, Terri Hammett, Eric McKay, Amy McKay, Jeff McKay, BJ McKay and 40 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband two sons James and Bill and a grandson BJ.
